MTE 2018

                                            Mobile Tech Expo 2018

Another one for the books! Mobile Tech Expo 2018 was an incredible experience as always.  All of the exhibitors put forth an exceptional effort. It was a familiar scene alive with activity with things to see, learn and try out. We would love to relate every last detail, but  I am not into writing novels, so I have focused on our partners as well as a couple of fan favorites. We will be waiting for tech feedback as well as testing some items ourselves before adding them to our inventory. Be sure you don’t miss out on any new releases by following us on Facebook, Instagram or by subscribing to our newsletter. Keep reading to learn about some standout products. As well as new innovations and upgrades to old favorites! I will include as many images as I can but I ask forgiveness because half the time I was so engrossed with the tools and watching them in action that I totally forgot to take pics!

Hail Lights MTE Lights Lights and MORE LIGHTS!!

This year really seemed to be the year for both new and improved tech when it came to lights. Here is a brief rundown of some of the most popular lights.

Elimadent

James Lee’s lights have become an industry favorite and this year’s upgrades I am sure will be no exception. Some of the amazing features on both his mini light and hail light are a locking access door on the side for easy lens changes as well as a three-tiered track to slide your lens on. So depending on your preference you can have it right up close or further away from your LEDs to give you the fade you want.  The mini light’s battery also got an upgrade of a built-in battery powered suction cup option. The hail light measures in at 38″x 14″ and will not dim as your power becomes depleted. Instead, you will receive a pulse to let you know that it’s time to charge or swap your power source.  Both lights will also be getting a housing upgrade to improve durability. We can’t wait to see the finished products that are scheduled to be released sometime this spring.

Pro PDR Solutions

As some of you may know, Pro PDR Solutions is under new ownership. They unveiled there new logo and name (Pro PDR) at the show and that was just the start. From everything we have seen and heard the new owner has quickly resolved the problems that had plagued the company in the past. They have hired more staff to ensure product availability and quality customer service. The new owner also gave the “Chubby” light a few upgrades including upgraded LEDs as well as increased durability. We wish Pro PDR Solutions all the best and are happy that all you Pro PDR fans will still be able to get the lights you love.

Stuckey Tools

Introducing the XL Hail Light. This 37″ x 10″ light is completely cordless. This light comes with six high definition LED strips and has an approximate run time of 6-7 hours. This light is also scheduled to become available in the spring. Can’t wait to hear some feedback!

Dent Technology

Jumping into the light game they released their hail light called the “Ferrari”. The light of course is completely housed in carbon fiber giving it a clean and polished finish. It comes standard with 6 LEDs as well as a screw in cord that disconnects from the light base to cut down on connection issues. The light measure 36″ x 12″ and is only 1/2″ thick. It is said to have amazing durability and we will be watching closely to see how it performs.

PDR Tools, Tabs and Accesories

A1 Tool MTEA1 Tool

To start off A1’s booth was awesome! A1 brought all of their best products as well as a couple of new items to show off.  They have also jumped into the hammer game with their own take on a blending hammer. And of course they continue to find new ways to add a ratcheting handle to just about every tool they make. Keep a look out for some of these new tools both online and on the truck soon!

Dent Man Tools MTE

Dent Man Tools

We got a chance to meet up with Jesse Hawe of Dent Man Tools and check out his amazing hammers. When I was handed one I was expecting it to be heavier and so with my usual grace I almost nailed myself in the face. To say it’s lightweight would be a gross misrepresentation. Also as an awesome add on you can customize your hammer with any number of options available on his site.

Stanliner

Not only was it an honor to spend time with Kazimieras himself, but it was truly a privilege to watch him work. Listening to him tell you how he developed each and everyone of his tools gives you a tiny glimpse into his genius. His tools are the perfect marriage of function and craftsmanship. It is no surprise that he was awarded with the Life Time Achievement Award. Again keep an eye out as we expand our stock to include more positions and lengths.

Anson PDRAnson PDR MTE

If there was a best booth prize they would have won it hands down. Everything was so creatively displayed. It was like walking into the best living room ever! They were showcasing some great new products like their Tequila Tabs and Root Beer glue that is meant for larger damage repair. Josh will be testing them out and we will let you know what we think.

Black Plague MTEBlack Plague

Always one to up the the tab game and this year was no difference. Mr. Cosentino has developed his take on a square tab. This coupled with his smooth series design and quality materials will make for a superior tab. We watched a demo at his booth and were of course impressed once again with the consistently strong pull that these tabs delivered. These tabs will be a welcome addition to our inventory in the near future.

Keco TabsKeco MTE

Keco really had so many new things that it was hard to keep track. The stand out was the “Viper”, a set of interlocking tabs that allow you customize their shape to your repair. Then there was the “Black Swan” guided knock down. This tools is meant to stabilize a large metal area with it’s foot while you knockdown. It also gives you an open view and minimizes the need to contort yourself into a pretzel. They also have upped their hammer game with both different handles and attachments available. And to finish of they have released a Robo Hole Straightener as well as their version of a polished metal tipped knock down. Like I said, they have been very busy and we can’t wait to test some of these out and possibly start carrying them.

Get A Grip MTEGet A Grip

We really liked this accessory. Perfect for winter warriors and when you need to keep consistent heat on a panel. Whether you use it to hold a heat gun or a canister based heat system, it will hold the weight without slipping or the need to readjust. Set it and get to work!

Edgy ToolsEdgy Tools MTE

Always one to push innovation to the edge, Edgy Tools debuted a few new tools that have been added to their line up. First one that caught our eye was the “Tire Tower”. This little tool will save your hands and acts as a great fulcrum point when working on fenders. It’s base grips into tires while it’s head is magnetic to grab onto your tool. Also another great item was their glue pulling plates. They are meant to be used with your lifter to avoid “volcanoing” the dent and come in multiple sizes. Two very useful tools that I am sure we will hear great feedback about.

See You Next Year

Well I could go on forever and believe me this is just the tip of the ice burg( or tool if you prefer). If you haven’t had a chance to check out Mobile Tech Expo personally you need to add it to your to do list. Not only does it help you stay up on the newest tool innovations and techniques, score once a year deals, you also have access to the newest media and technologies that are becoming increasingly part of our industry.  Also the Dent Olympics are there if you want to compete and see how you measure up against the best in the business. This year we had a fellow Canadian from Quebec place in the top five. Maybe it could be you next year? Whatever your reason to attend is, we look forward to seeing any and all as we continue to drive our industry forward together.
